ROCKFORD — Montessori students from Thurgood Marshall School and Maria Montessori School have raised nearly $10,000 to build a girls school in Kenya. A fundraiser was held in conjunction with Free the Children’s Brick by Brick initiative. Students made final contributions during a celebratory ribbon-cutting and Kenyan-culture ceremony Monday in the Marshall School Theater.
