St. Patrick’s Day is a great way to get children to eat healthy green foods!  In our Montessori environment we look for ways to integrate healthy eating into our classroom! In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day we will be making green smoothies!!! Feel free to use our recipe and make one at home with your little one.

Ingredients
  1. 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  2. 1 big handful spinach
  3. 1 banana
  4. 1 can (6 oz) pineapple juice
  5. Juice of ¼ lemon or ½ lime
  6. 1 big handful ice
Instructions
  1. Place the ingredients into the blender in the following order: flax, spinach, banana, pineapple juice, and lemon juice. The reason for this order is so the heavier ingredients weigh down the lighter ones, keeping them from flying up & around the blender and sticking to the side. Blend for about 1 minute, add ice, and blend again until smooth. Pour into a big glass. And, for extra fun, serve with a paper umbrella; they make everything taste better.
