Denise Leonard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major concentration in Psychology and a minor concentration in Elementary Education. She earned her Elementary I certification from the American Montessori Society and recently completed her Early Childhood Certification through the International Montessori Council.

Denise has been teaching in a Montessori environment since 2005. A New England native, Denise began her Montessori career as an Assistant Upper Elementary Teacher at Shrewsbury Montessori School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. After moving with her family to North Carolina, Denise worked as an Elementary Co-Teacher at the Montessori School of Raleigh before joining the staff at Casa Esperanza Montessori Charter School as a Montessori Mentor and Co-Teacher in a Spanish Immersion Elementary Classroom.

In 2008, Denise joined Wake Forest Montessori where she collaborated with Kristen to establish WFM’s second Children’s House classroom. While at WFM, Denise enjoyed working with many wonderful teachers and students, including Mrs. Kristen’s son, Dillon, and Mrs. Amanda’s son, Parker!

In recent years, to better accommodate the long school commute and hectic schedules of her own children, Eric and Sarah, Denise joined Renaissance Montessori School in Cary where she has been a Lead Teacher in a Children’s house classroom.

Denise is thrilled to be returning to WFM and is looking forward to getting to know each of the students and their families.
